Fireball Europeans at A.S.N. Perros-Guirec, Brittany Preview
26 August - 1 September 2006
By Tim Saunders, 06:53 16 August 2006 Article -

Following on from 2005’s huge European and World Championships at Teignmouth Devon, 120 boats are expected to take part in another festival of sailing between the 26th of August and1st September off the Cote De Granit Rose in Northern Brittany. Perros-Guirec will host the first European Championship in France since 1999 and the organizers have chosen a fantastic venue.

The British representation is strong with reigning European and UK National champion DJ Edwards teaming up with Guy Tipton, 2003 European and former World Champion Andy Smith sailing with Jonny Mildred and this years inland Champion Matt Burge sailing with current UK National Champion and Grand National winner Richard Wagstaff.

The Czechs are led by double European champion Tomas Musil paired with Pavel Winkler, and the multiple French Champions Ludovic Alleaume and Etienne Perdon are always tough to beat on home waters. With a large Irish contingent and boats from Italy, Belgium, Switzerland and even Canada taking part, this coveted championship will again prove hard to win.

The pink granite coast between Brest and Rennes is one of the most welcoming settings in Brittany. Just off the coast of Perros-Guirec is the Seven Islands archipelago. Famed throughout Europe this bird reserve is the home of gannets, puffins and razorbills and with daily boat trips makes an ideal lay day excursion. Perros-Guirec also has 3 vast beaches of fine golden sand, where you can swim and dive safely. Pink granite is every where; the hotels have even made their mini golf courses out of it.

There is still time to enter with easy road access from the ports of Roscoff and St. Malo, or a longer journey from Calais providing options on how to get there.

As credit card payments are not possible competitors who register in advance can avoid the late payment fee. for more information on this please see www.fireball-international.com/php/france_2006.php?news_id=0
